Calling in Sick

In the working world it goes without saying that one must call in sick when they are not going to be in attendance. Roughly 3 months into instilling the new culture of Trust, Respect, and Responsibility into our students, we are seeing results! On the current PBL that our student's are working on, April and have seen an improvement that showcases  all of the above character traits that we are striving for! It's truly amazing! A great example is an email that we received from one of our students the other night. The student emailed both April and I, essentially "calling in sick". He let us know that he had gotten the flu and wouldn't be in class the next the day. Much of this had to do with the fact that he was working in a group and they had deadlines to meet. He needed to make sure that he could still contribute even though his health prevented him from being there! While we still have a long way to go and many hurdles to jump, it's moments like this that make it all worth while!
